ART  +  WELLNESS

"I'm not sure yoga is for me", "Meditation is too woo-woo", "What does Art have to do with Yoga?", "Yoga is for skinny, young people" - if you've ever thought these things, you have come to the right place! Did you know that going to a museum is healthy for you? Studies have shown that visiting an art museum can help process emotions and improve overall well being. When you combine that with breath, movement, and meditation it can have a profound impact helping to calm and reset the nervous system. I make yoga, art history, meditation, and movement accessible to people of ALL fitness backgrounds, skill levels, and body types. If you are seeking to optimize your well-being, maintain your health, or are interested in combining the art of slow looking in a museum setting I can assist you. Together, you and I will come up with a plan to get you there one step at a time.

Hi, I'm Diana

I am Diana Pins and at first I didn't think I fit the bill for being a yoga teacher, I didn't look like those models on the cover of yoga magazines or in social media doing headstands. What I did find was that yoga made me feel better and I wanted to share that feeling with others.

I always felt good when I visited museums - especially Art Museums. As a lifelong learner, I wanted to understand what I was looking at so I completed a two-year docent training program at the San Diego Museum of Art. I enjoy sharing my knowledge but what I really enjoy is seeing visitors discover artwork on a more personal level. That’s when I had the opportunity to merge my two passions of Yoga plus Art. I am presenting a breakout session at the National Docent Symposium called the Medicine of Art. We have found that there really are health benefits to viewing art.

I Can Help

If you would like to incorporate a wellness aspect with slow looking, I can help you. I can either guide you on how to roll a program out or I can lead it for you. My method of teaching is to make classes fun and meaningful, I use my full palette of knowledge and skills to creatively present therapeutic practices that are easy to understand in a stepwise progression. I customize my classes to suit the needs, abilities, and interests of each individual with my goal to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of the health benefits of slowing down, movement, and learning about art all at the same time! Of course, it doesn't just have to be in an Art Museum - these methods can be integrated anywhere.

Testimonials

Diana did an excellent job of relaxing us by giving a new way to view art. --Sheila.
Definitely changed the way I will view art in museums in addition to the world around me. Diana was so knowledgeable, calming, thought provoking and positive. I wish we could have visited more pieces together. --Darci.
